Iskra Arreaga-Jimenez is a 2025 graduate of Bedford High. Iskra will attend the New York Film Academy, where she will be studying filmmaking. Her career goal is to become a film director. She hopes that being a woman, a refugee, and a Guatemalan will give her opportunities to represent her people and tell stories that matter.

Iskra’s main interests (and also her favorite classes) have centered on photography, ceramics, and filmmaking. These focal points have helped her see the world from different perspectives and allowed her to express her personal voice, she says.
Iskra has worked with clay, paint, cameras, and mixed media. She also enjoys experimenting with different materials to push her creativity further.

We thank Lori Eggert, Scholarship chair, for arranging for Iskra’s award.
