Introduction to Zentangle with Yvonne Sandell, Certified Zentangle Teacher

In this relaxing workshop, participants were introduced to several patterns called “tangles.” Following Yvonne's lead, they then designed 3.5 by 3.5 inch paper “tiles” using Micron pens and a pencil. Participants left the workshop with 2-3 finished tiles. This workshop was supported in part by a grant from the Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Decorating a Bird House with Anna and Stu Trout

Decorating a Bird House with Anna and Stu Trout

Participants did light assembly and decorated hand made wooden birdhouses. The birdhouses were 11.5 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 5.5 inches deep—with an entryway best suited for chickadees, wrens and bluebirds. Paint, brushes, wooden embellishments and printed materials for decoupaging were provided by Anna Trout. This workshop was supported in part by a grant from the Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Mixed Media Card Making with Eileen Larsen

Mixed Media Card Making with Eileen Larsen

Using a variety of art materials, participants first created a large, colorful abstract master board. Then they cut this up into 6 x 9” card fronts. Finally, they double-mounted these and adhered them to blank greeting cards, some using optional sentiments ("Thinking of You," "Happy Birthday,", etc.). Participants left with 6-9 attractive and completely unique greeting cards! This workshop was supported in part by a grant from the Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Approaches to Expressive Abstract Painting with Kathy DeFlice-Secor

Approaches to Expressive Abstract Painting with Kathy DeFlice-Secor

Drawing and painting on paper is a fresh and direct way to work. The surface allows for fluidity without hesitation. Navigating your intuitive hand while responding to the materials will bring out spontaneity and enrich your practice. In this workshop participants explored unique imagery with line and color, both wet and dry. Kathy first discussed options for materials and gave a demonstration. It was followed by an exercise for all to flex their imagination and experiment with mark-making. The session concluded with a friendly group critique. This workshop was supported in part by a grant from the Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Harvest Wreath Workshop with Annie Morano

Harvest Wreath Workshop with Annie Morano

In this workshop, Annie Morano showed participants how to design and create stunning fall wreaths using a grapevine base and a variety of seasonal elements. Participants had all the supplies they needed to create a 16-inch indoor or outdoor wreath by arranging decorations in a balanced, beautiful way. This workshop was supported in part by a grant from the Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
