We hold a variety of demonstrations and workshops that are open to the the public. Workshops may entail a modest fee. Email info@bacsma.org with any questions. These programs are supported in part by a grant from the Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Decorating a Bird House with Anna and Stu Trout
March 14, 2026 We will decorate and do limited assembly of a handbuilt wooden birdhouse. The birdhouse is 11.5 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 5.5 inches deep. The size of the entryway is best for chickadees, wrens and bluebirds. We will use materials provided by the instructor (paint, brushes, wooden embellishments and printed materials for decoupaging). This workshop will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Upper Fellowship Hall at First Church of Christ, Congregational, 25 Great Rd., Bedford. Attendance is free for BACS members and $15 for nonmembers, payable to BACS. The materials fee for all participants is $15 payable to the instructor by cash or check. Mixed Media Card Making with Eileen Larsen
Using a variety of art materials, we will first create a large, colorful abstract master board. We will then cut this up into 6 x 9” card fronts. Finally, we will double-mount these and adhere them to blank greeting cards. Optional sentiments ("Thinking of You," "Happy Birthday,", etc.) will be available. Approaches to Expressive Abstract Painting with Kathy DeFlice-Secor
Drawing and painting on paper is a fresh and direct way to work. The surface allows for fluidity without hesitation. Navigating your intuitive hand while responding to the materials will bring out spontaneity and enrich your practice. In this workshop participants explored unique imagery with line and color, both wet and dry. Kathy first discussed options for materials and gave a demonstration. It was followed by an exercise for all to flex their imagination and experiment with mark-making. The session concluded with a friendly group critique. Harvest Wreath Workshop with Annie Morano
In this workshop, Annie Morano showed participants how to design and create stunning fall wreaths using a grapevine base and a variety of seasonal elements. Participants had all the supplies they needed to create a 16-inch indoor or outdoor wreath by arranging decorations in a balanced, beautiful way. This workshop was supported in part by a grant from the Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. This workshop was held in the Upper Fellowship Hall at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 25 Great Road, Bedford, MA. Other than a $35 fee for materials, the workshop was free for all who attended. .
2024-2025 Programs Wrap-Up: Felted Seascape and the Cyanotype Process
Our concluding programs for fiscal 2024–2025 featured the “painting” of a wool-felted seascape with artist Elizabeth Stubbs on April 26 (above) and an introduction to the art of the cyanotype led by Laura Wallace and Joan Butler. An Acrylic Painting Workshop with Holly Coble was held on March 15
In this workshop, Holly demonstrated three techniques that equip painters to see, compose, and paint their still life thoughtfully, allowing for the least frustration, the most fun, and the best outcome. (Still life set-ups with paints, brushes, and canvases were provided.) This workshop was held on Saturday, March 15, 1:30-4:00pm in the Upper Fellowship Hall at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 25 Great Road, Bedford, MA. Holly Coble is a still life artist who paints from her Andover studio. Her work has been juried into many regional exhibitions, and she sells her work in stores and galleries throughout the East Coast. Mosaic Workshop Success

Mosaic Jewelry with Amy Marks
Saturday, Feb 15 • snow date Feb 22 • 1:00-3:30 pm • In Person Amy Marks is a mosaic artist and past president of the New England Mosaic Society. Her work has been juried into manyexhibitions, and she teaches mixed media mosaic workshops throughout New England.In this workshop Amy will guide the participants in fashioning up to two pieces of mosaic jewelry (e.g., pendants, earrings, rings). She will provide all materials, including an assortment of mosaic pieces, blank bezels, and other essential parts.This workshop will be held in person in the Upper Fellowship Hall at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 25 Great Road,Bedford, MA. There will be a $15 fee for BACS nonmembers, payable by cash, check, or Venmo on the day of the workshop.Every participant will pay a $45 materials fee to the instructor on that date.
