Save the Date: Annual Spring Luncheon and Voting for Officers

Put a circle around Saturday, June 1, on your calendar to save the date for our annual members’ luncheon, celebrating the conclusion of another fiscal year. Social chair Eileen Larsen is looking for volunteers to help plan the day, from food to flowers to fun.

Please contact Eileen if you can help with planning. Participating on the party team is a great opportunity for members, new and longstanding, to collaborate on setting the stage for this much-enjoyed event.

Art Changeover in the Town Center Galleries

We will soon be changing the BACS artwork exhibit in the Flint Room and the COA’s Computer Room in the Town Center Building. Any 2-D artwork is eligible for hanging.

Dropoff time will be announced soon, so get your work ready! Art must be wired in the back; we’re unable to hang art fitted with sawtooth hooks. Artwork will be on display until the fall. When the date and time for the changeover are set, we will send the info and waiver form via an e-mail blast. The form is also available on the BACS website in the “Members” section. If you have questions, please contact Laura Wallace.

BACS Members’ Art on Exhibit

Artwork by Martha Brill, Florence Como, Sylvia Mallory, Yvonne Sandell, and Laura Wallace is featured in “Tools of the Trade,” the current show at the Grace Chapel Art Gallery. The show will run until April 27. You can see it in person on Sundays, 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.; on Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings; and (soon) on the gallery’s website (scroll to bottom): www.grace.org/artgallery. Grace Chapel Art Gallery, 59 Worthen Rd., Lexington.

New Book Co-Authored by Barbara Purchia

Designing, creating, and maintaining fairy dwellings and gardens has become popular as an artistic endeavor, family activity, or form of meditation. Ashley Rooney and BACS member Barbara Purchia have written a sequel to their best-selling Fairy Homes & Gardens. The new book, Magical Fairy Homes and Gardens, features the work of dozens of talented artists through images and stories of more than 50 diverse and inspiring projects, from communities to cottages to castles. There’s even a chapter on fairy accessories: furniture, doors, swings, and other creature comforts. This paperback book is available for pre-order on Amazon and Barnes & Noble and will be released on April 28, 2024. Kudos to Ashley and Barb!
