Molly Torrey, Nature Artist and Educator

What is nature journaling? A nature journal is a place to record your personal observations of the natural world, through words, pictures and numbers. You do not need to be an artist or have advanced drawing skills to create a nature journaling page! In this workshop, you will be guided through the steps of creating a nature journal page and come away with ideas for building a regular practice of nature journaling into your schedule.

Two workshops will be offered: Tuesday, May 13 from 10:00am to 12:00pm and Wednesday, May 28 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. They’ll be held at 12 Mudge Way, Rm 152.

Making Silver Jewelry with Metal Clay Workshop

Hilary Taylor, Silversmith/Jeweler, Owner Merlin’s Silver Star Studio, West Concord

Join Hilary for a unique opportunity to make jewelry using metal clay that is embedded with microns of silver! You will design and make your piece using textures, natural elements and stamps. Once dried the pieces are fired and it is during this process that the clay burns off and you are left with your piece in silver. You will have enough supplies to make a small pair of earrings and a small pendant or you may choose to use all of your materials for one larger piece. Please look through your home and outdoors for textures that you may want to capture in silver such as a piece of lace, a leaf, silverware or a favorite stamp….endless things out there(Hilary will also have many textures to choose from!) Once your piece is completed, they will be fired in Hilary’s studio and will be brought back to the Recreation Department for pick up in 7-10 days (email will be sent when ready).

Two workshops will be offered: Friday, May 9 from 10:00am to 12:00pm and Thursday, May 22 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. They’ll be held at 12 Mudge Way, Rm 152.
